I – THIS NEW LIFE IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT

• v.6 “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”

• Titus 3:5 (NLT) “he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.”

• John 1:13 (MBB) “Sila ay naging mga anak ng Diyos, hindi dahil sa isinilang sila ayon sa kalikasan o sa kagustuhan o sa kagagawan ng tao, kundi ayon sa kalooban ng Diyos.”

II – THIS NEW LIFE IS ASSURED OF SALVATION

1. Is not condemned

• v.18 (NIV) “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

2.Have eternal life

• v.16 (NIV) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

III – THIS NEW LIFE IS DESIGNED TO GROW

1.The analogy of a newborn baby.

• 1 Pet.2:2 (MBB) “Gaya ng sanggol, kayo’y manabik sa dalisay na gatas na espirituwal upang lumago kayo tungo sa kaligtasan,”

• 2 Pet.3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…” (NIV)
a. We need to grow in grace.
b. We need to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
c. We need to grow in love.

• 2 Thess.1:3 (MBB) “Mga kapatid, tama lamang na kami’y laging magpasalamat sa Diyos dahil sa inyo, sapagkat patuloy na lumalago ang inyong pananampalataya kay Cristo at lalong nagiging maalab ang inyong pagmamahalan sa isa’t isa.”

2.The analogy of plant.

• 1 Cor.3:6 (MBB) “Ako ang nagtanim, si Apolos ang nagdilig, subalit ang Diyos ang nagpatubo at nagpalago.”

• Matt.13:8 (NLT) “Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

CONCLUSION

2. The growth of Nicodemus.—John 19:38-42 (MBB)

Growth is not instant; it is a process, but we must continue to grow.
